How do you share a house with a professional torturer?
How many years apart before you no longer recognise your husband?
Would you brave the Cross in the world’s last pair of high heels?
Through a series of seductive and brilliantly written scenarios, legendary British playwright Howard Barker (Victory, The Castle) offers us The Possibilities
The Possibilities is a series of ten seductive and brilliantly written scenarios that take us to the extremes of human experience. This production of The Possibilities brings together some of Sydney and Melbourne’s most exciting Directors, Designers and Performers.
As well as a rare opportunity to see the work of Howard Barker, The Possibilities is also a unique chance to see four directors in collaboration. Justine Campbell, Marcel Dorney, Travis Green and Fiona Hallenan-Barker have come together to approach the challenges of Barker’s unique style. Their collective approach has evolved from the shared experience of working closely with renowned Melbourne-based writer/director Jenny Kemp.
This gang of four are well matched with an ensemble of eight extraordinary actors: Jacinta Acevski, Jonathan Brand, Ray Chong Nee, Errol Henderson, Sophie Kelly, Brynn Loosemore, Gabrielle Swathorne & Jane E Seymour.
Soundtracked by Tony Award-nominated Russell Goldsmith, lit by Martin Kinnane, and designed by two of Melbourne’s youngest and most brilliant, Chloe Greaves and David Samuel, The Possibilities has been programmed by Sidetrack Theatre’s Artistic Director Kate Gaul as a key part of her inaugural season.
The Possibilities will be a beautiful, complex, and rewarding experience that will provide exactly that unusual flavour that will make your August really pop.
Please note this production contains sexual references, nudity, violence and humour.
